Well my dear wayne ! it seems to me that there ain't one Union/Association out there who are willing to address their members concerns nor, represent without predujice.

The hidden agendas will always remain....

IMO ...Seems we couldna agree on the colour of sh*te ! so what chance has this Trade of ever being taken seriously ???????

Surely we all agree that driver safety is a massive concern, so even if we all concentrated just on that it would be a start.

Anything that helps to improve drivers safety I will fully support, even if I disagree with it. :?

Have I got to start this like a Dear John letter ? ;)

Any association represents it's members as best as it can.

When you have a number of different groups, that have different views, then the only way forward is to compromise... find something that you can all live with.... it might not be perfect... but it's better than going backwards.
The trade will continuously evolve, the big companies will eat up the smaller companies, the companies that advertise and give discounts will grow, drivers coming into the trade will look for the cheapest option.... which undoubtedly is private hire.....
The problem with this trade is then nobody has any backbone..... to frightened to stand-up for themselves..... and then you have the smart arsses..... whose only contribution is to pull people down... and then blame everyone else when their world falls apart. but never mind you can always wash cars for a living.. but then ..... I expect someone will start Complaining about the price of plastic buckets...

Yep...... Darwinism rules ok!

Does that mean we're not going to try being creative we're just going to accept it as a matter of course and pressume it is the way it is because that is how the trade has evolved :?

Seems it's all very much down to the equality bill at the end of the day.....

They may be boring arguments to you, but, the impact will not be so boring if you have to get a WAV Skip

It doesn't.

Now in the commons, and if they don't except the amendments, then the equality bill wont happen before the election.

Therefore they will.

Quite honestly Toots I don't think it will come to that.... When the DDA came in everyone was twittering and panicking from their rear orifices with the same thing.....

I think everything will stay the same as it is now, open ended, but any newcomers into the trade will have to buy a wav (unless a saloon plate is up for grabs) and so it will carry on....

Most taxi franchises/companies have mixed Hackney/PH fleets with priority given to PH as they depend on it..... Hackney taxi ranks will be overflowing with wav's just as they are now, with Councils lapping up the license fee's.... :x

This section of the new Act started being debated approximately 10 years ago.... and then went to sleep..... it was resurrected late last year.... it is being hurried through.....

To say that the majority of radio circuits are mixed fleet.... is extremely questionable.... 8)

If the trades does not educate their local MPs that there is a problem with this Act, then the MPs will think that everything is OK...... the trades future... in fact your future... is in your own hands......
