At a meeting with the STF Bill McIntosh made a point of telling the members that if they did not make an attempt to get a good percentage of wavs on in there areas then they would be made to comply.
Dundee have said at a meeting on Thursday that they will leave the government to decide if all taxis are to be wavs but i think they have said this because we have a large number of wavs.
I think if there are going to keep a mixed fleet then there should be financial incentives for the wav operators.

I tend to disagree, but then again, I am getting towards being a grumpy old man.

The country gets the political leadership it deserves, there too many people (in our case its the majority of the country), prepared to sit back and watch things happen.

I dont exactly like the French.....but can you imagine a French government getting away with what this lot have?

Well then...we dont disagree, its time we took a more robust to those that govern us, thats 2 of the popluation..now if we can fire up the other 59,853,298 of the Population we might just get something done :lol:

I think I will just make my MP's life hell...... wouldn't it be interesting if people voted for MPs that didn't belong to a party.... that would set the cat amongst the pigeons..... :roll:

I think that would just lead to more corruption within politics. If big parties had to rely on independance to get their policy's through, well what incentives would be offered to these independants to "encourage" then to vote a certain way by either another political party or an outside "interested party".

I shouldnt get overly happy, I to am Joyous abou the Amendment...but just as you settle contentedly into the coastal Kingdom of Smugdom, along shall come the Government or the EU with something new to turn your and my world upside down..It maybe a crushing green stealth Tax or a Pitiful limit to how many hours you can drive in your effort to earn a crust. But, come it will..this lot have not even started making things harder yet.. :wink:

It will not make the slightest bit of difference here in Winchester, (80 wav's, 49 saloons), no limit except quality control.... where per 1000 population we should only have 65 Hackneys!!!
Winchester C.C. wants to keep a mixed fleet so the saloon fraternity will be the real winners, so here the minority have won!!
The damage has been done so no smiles :cry: :x
What's the situation for Sussex, Captain Cab, and you other guys?

So it maybe that you will see an increase in more wav's?.....As you are PH it isn't going to make any difference to the number of PH you have there, but it seems to me you are experiencing over saturation to?..... eusasmiles.zip

How long are wav drivers able to keep their vehicles in your area?

Winchester allow 10 years on wav non Hackney spec with Hackney spec no limit if in good condition....

What's the situation for Sussex, Captain Cab, and you other guys?


The DFT havent told anyone what the ratio will be for a mixed fleet.

Our LA seem intent on retaining saloon vehicles, even though historically they made the original 33 go down the FX4 route back in 1982........they changed this and allowed saloons on again in 1995......which basically completely f*cked the City because everyone from PH bought saloons that met the criteria and became HC........they then went WAV only on new licenses in 2007.

We now sit with about 200 licensed vehicles which are a 50/50 mix of saloon and WAV.

Of course, the playing field it totally unfair upon WAV owners, those vehicles cost more to operate, purchase, insure and maintain.

It'll be interesting if the DFT come up with 75/25 ratio in favour of WAV's.........because that would mean were were very short indeed!

Why would we see anymore WAV's than is already here? We have no limits on the taxis so the Equality Bill will have no effect at all on us. It's a shame the bill isn't about making things equal for ALL passengers with a mixed fleet option :wink:

So It would seem that 50/50 would be a good result for your area....
I can't see the DFT ruling against saloons, or would it be that they may have to "upgrade" to a wav on next purchase?
Here we are more than well supplied with wav's, stupid as though that might be, I seldom do any punter's in wheelchair's, once a year at most.... But at least I can keep my vehicle ad infinitum, my last one went 15 years....
