Taxi Driver Online

One of my drivers picked up a customer on saturday during the journey the customer told him how his elderly mother had been charged £6.00 each way for a journey of just under 1 mile to the local hospital ( I have done this journey myself and it meters between £3 and £3.30 depending on the traffic)

The family decided to complain to the licensing officer at the council but was told when they mentioned that the driver was asian that they were being racist and would not be allowed to make the complaint !

Surely overcharging is just that and it should not matter what the drivers' ethnic origin is ?

So the question is why is it racist to complain about an offence just because the driver inviolved is asian

If he was of an asian persuasion then he was of asian persuasion...so why is it racist to say otherwise, im sure they only said it to help in identifying the driver, had he been white theyed have said so. The councils an ass for even assumimg a racist implication. Its this kind of over the top government induced bias and one sidedness that is going to stir up a hornets nest from the white population that feel threatened, frightened and powerless to say anything for fear of being classed as racist.

If your going to be British then Integrate and expect to be treated like anyone else that lives here, matters not one bit your colour or ethnic background.. however, if you cant hack it and integrate then ship out..this will never be a home to you.

If the Goverment perpetuates its racist witch hunt then it will only serve to make matters far worse in the future for the very people it says its trying to help..

I can see that type of information being extremely useful in Leeds or Bradford though

Well...what you can see already in the places mentioned is what your going to see nationwide...and it can only lead to trouble sadly..

All depends on the tone of the complaint.

If they said it was another one of those Asians, then I suspect the LO would end the conversation then.

If they were asked to describe the driver and they said they believed he came from an ethnic background, then the complaint should have been investigated.

I know what most of our customers would say.

We have had people complain here about overcharging ethnic drivers, but the LO's are unable to prove it....... I just wonder when the tide will begin to turn and LA's will not accept the race card as often as they have done in the past?...... It's happened in the Met police ranks.......

The owners and the LO are scared to say anything because like you mention the race card will be pulled from the pack of cards.

We've got one Asian who drives for us is getting loads of I don't want ***** to pick us up. He's been accused of charging people treble on normal time, he charges £11 for a £6 job on daytimes. He knows what he can get away with so he'll carry on ripping customers off.
