I'm not sure all this washing of dirty laundry in public will help keep restrictions. :?

I'm certain of it........but TBH anyone actually trying to rent out a plate without a vehicle attached.....doesn't actually deserve a license.

Does that include the person renting the plate

I said:

So what's illegitimate about that, precisely?

I forgot the question mark?

I included a smilie?

You've got half a dozen punctuation errors in as many words above, but do you hear me complain [-(

Or perhaps it's the "he's so thick there's no point in even telling answering the question, let's wind him up instead" scenario

I knew him when this article was written, he objected to paying money every week for radio rent, and wanted a plate for nothing with De Regulation now it seems he is going to get one for nothing by methods of stealth, he has been the same all his life, wants everything free.

And why shouldn't he, over the years 177 people have recieved "free" plates off the City of York council.
Good luck to the bloke, he may need it!

too true gabbycabby, even those that have been on waiting list for years have recently received free plates and sold them on straight away for a tidy sum. In my opinion it should be one plate to one driver, if you dont want it or decide in a career change, hand it back to the council so they can give it to someone who does want to earn an honest living without having to hand over the first £200 they earn to plate barons, many of whom dont even drive a Taxi !! Alot of these guys renting plates have famillies, but get to spend little time with them because they have to work 6 or 7 nights a week to get the £200 every week, not to mention fuel money, insurance, maintainance and runnibg costs. Then they can think about earning their own living expenses, rent/mortgage, gas, electric, council tax etc, etc, etc. Unfortunately the only way to earn this kind of money is by working 12 hour nights. Work all night, sleep all day. Believe me, its lkike groundhog day every day. The relief and release of pressure not avin to earn that 'rent money' will change their lives and maybe save their relationships !!!! So ! Next time you get in a Taxi and the drivers a little quiet or appears miserable, maybe you should spare a moment and consider the stress he may be going through, not just at work, but at home too !!

I'm of that opinion also, 1 plate = 1 driver. However I do see the flip side of the coin which enables drivers, that wish to do so for whatever reason, to rent a vehicle and these drivers should also have access :-|

There will never be a shortage of cars for rent.

If they could have thier own plated vehicle, i very much doubt that they would want to rent.

There could be if it was only 1 driver = one plate :-|
