I think some of you are missing the point here ! The Hackney vehicle license is a piece of paper with a name on ! The plate is a piece of plastic that goes on the vehicle owned by the person who has his/her name on the piece of paper, therefore whoever has their name on the piece of paper will get the piece of plastic to go on the back of his/her car, providing that is. that they own the vehicle that the piece of plastic is on or is going on, and that they can prove beyond doubt that they do actually own that particular vehicle. Vehicle ownership is the key here ! How simple is that ?????

I'm not sure how many are missing the point, other than the council before they changed tack.

SUSSEX WROTE. No because the finance companies name isn't on the register. But they could be put on if required.

I believe something like that happens in Liverpool.

Manchester and Liverpool cabs are mainly financed by Singer finance an offshoot off the Icelandic banks. Singer have thier name on all prop licences until finance is settled (to stop them being sold by owners disappearing back home to the dark continent). The situation in Manchester is grim. An 09 reg TX4 changed hands this week for 85k. My nightman and I pay £430 a week between us for a cab which is worth £500 scrap. An insurace check this week found several uninsured (the renting drivers did not know).
Deregulation HAS to arrive soon.

It is certainly common for a finance company to have its name on the licence as well as the owner.. it is also common for plates to be in a company name.. and then you have situations where two people are partners... both their names can be on the licence and only one name on a log book.... there are also many people who have their wives names on the licence.... but only their own name on the log book.... all perfectly legal.....

Whilst chatting with someone from the taxi office last night it appears as if they are thinking about deregulation. They believe this is the only way forward

If you put a name to that rumour then it could be right,
But really why not try and blame the four for the traffic congestion as well
and the reccession and the collition getting in and McDonalds rubbish burgers

Talk about rumour I heard Station Taxis are paying the legal fees of those who are losing their plates

And

People who have got station permits now from those given up were always slagging Station Taxis off before reciving the now spare permits, talk about changing views

Well Station Taxis should save their money cos the 4 that stand to lose plates have committed that many acts of fraud that they be lucky to just lose plates ! They may lose Hackney driving license too, as they may be seen as not being a fit and proper person to hold such license, not to mention the possibility of prosecution for offences committed. The four 'rebels' have committed no crime or breached any licensing conditions, and the law is on their side ! Wonder how many rules, regulations and laws the present proprietors have committed and continue to commit ! Comments on a postage stamp please !!!!

You're still slagging them off but you're red mad to get back in, even going to the top, but to no avail

I think, 'the thinker' should think more bout what he's posting on here and to whom his replies are aimed at ! Dont make no sense unless we know what he's on about, or possibly take time to read the posts and absorb the information he's reading, let it sink in, I realise at his age it may take a little longer to sink in but with a name like 'the thinker', he certainly dont do a great deal of thinking !!

[i]For the sake of 'the thinker' the above is a statement from 'Tangoed' ! Now ! Im not the cleverest of people but even I can see that 'Tangoed' is talking about other people getting permits to go in station, after slagging off Station Taxis !!

You're still slagging them off but you're red mad to get back in, even going to the top, but to no avail

The reply above, written by 'the thinker', who I may point out, is also not the cleverest of people, along with several of his previous posts, would suggest that everone that places a post on here is one of the four rebels. Or maybe he's just trying to provoke a reaction and hoping that he stumbles across a rebel in the process !! LOL !! Keep thinking 'the thinker'
