I had already thought about keyfobs but was wondering how good are they? I mean, who gets them? Everyone or just the regular customers? Does this type of advertising prove costly or is it cost effective at bringing in more work?

I wouldn't be giving them to regular customers, they're already using you :D

Smoked glass.

We discounted for a small time when I was just begining as a trial with all the drivers in agreement to try it. We only did it during our then queit period so we did not lose anything but actually gained.

As for free settle, well I tried that and all I got was way too many drivers staying for the free week then sodding off to another office. No point in doing it as that many have taken me for a ride, would you like me to go into details!! I only charge £100 settle for the week when all the other offices are charging over £110 per week so personally I dont think thats a bad deal when they can make the same money if not more money than other offices on a saturday night.

On a good saturday night all drivers are taking upwards of £180 but at the moment all offices are very quiet on a friday night, not sure if it is the weather or the economy but it is not just us that is quiet.

The drivers dont get dragged too much as I am one of the drivers and there would be hell to pay if we were all being dragged from pillar to post. Yes, the more cars the better then the more work can be covered leading to more work and more drivers. Its catch 22 where its hard to get drivers so its hard to get more work because we cant handle it.

It wasn't intended to answer the initial query, believe it or not, but as usual your non-point serves to divert attention from my point.

You didn't have a relevant point ffs. You still don't have a relevant point. I hope you get two flat tyres you tit

Rather than ruin threads why dont you simply make a new thread and ask direct questions.....it would save boring people to tears with your sh*te, and the rest of us could ignore it.

Your scrutiny is one way, you never give an opinion on anything, that aside your posts have f*ck all to do with this thread.

Please tell me more !! I can only state that drivers who pay less settle say £50 per week thats a saving of £60. A driver who has to earn an extra £60 will have to do £75 with the fuel money on top. That's a night off or an extra £75 in a drivers pocket. If you can manage your overheads with 6 drivers = £300/week thats great, but I recon you would get more than 6 drivers. I think that once drivers found out the settle was permanently £50 with a small annual rise you would get a good crew.
I know a few companies were I work ask 50p per job, so if its quiet the drivers pay less settle. If the drivers do 30 jobs on a Saturday night its still only £15 this may work for you as well!

or the 20 owner drivers could stump up £5K each, rent thier own base, pay thier own base op and rent/rates and pay no settle.........

Looks like I have started a lively debate!!

I think the mousemats with the company name and number is a good idea, never thought of that one!

I had already thought about keyfobs but was wondering how good are they? I mean, who gets them? Everyone or just the regular customers? Does this type of advertising prove costly or is it cost effective at bringing in more work?

I have tried to get part time drivers but none are forthcoming and when they do come the full time drivers think if they have a few days off they should pay part time settle too!

I had two drivers start the other week, one full time 5 nights and the other part time fri and sat night. Because we all had a poor friday night including all the other offices I am told both new drivers handed in there radios, even though they had great sat night! Can someone figure them out for me because I cant, driving me mad!!

We did for a while knock £1 off all fares between 6 and 9 every night when I first started and that was a great success, not sure if to try it again still thinking about that one.

I did see the stickers for the back of the £1 which I thought a good idea, but they seem to have bad press so not sure what to think of that really. Anyone got any input on that idea?

Can anyone else think of more ways to advertise?

Thanks for the input!

Oh yes! I cant really afford to give away tv's and give free rides just yet! Maybe in a few years!!

I also read a company who supply beer-mats for about £80 for 5,000 and so although we all do amusing things with the beer mats whilst drinking in the pub(like seeing how many we can flip up and catch in one movement and ripping a piece off and placing it on your nose) but one thing there is plenty of in Wrexham is Pubs and so by placing them in some of the local taverns can only help and for £80 it wont take you long to get your money back....
