plus, of course, if deregulation was just around the corner it would be a tad sickening to pay £70K for a hack plate and a used E7 then find the plates are then free.....

If your going down this dangerous rout of buying a plate and possibly with the cab, make sure the vehicle and the plate are in your name, if things go tits up they could just remove both and leave you with nothing
Don't forget to register it with the council

If true, the plate is worthless as anyone will be able to get one from the council after that date.
Be carefull, you could lose all your money.

oh lord, you mean your heading into £70,000 worth of debt and dont know?

deregulation means no restriction on the issuing of hackney plates, there could be 50 today, and 250 next day

yes I know that but that is with the red plate hackneys who operate in rural areas, not with the towns hackney the reason I know this is because there was a meeting between rural hackney an town hackney drivers last year an the council made it clear that they are keeping restrictions an if anyone wants a rural hackney you need a european approved wav under 4 years old

A misconception of what the act says.

In short if the existing % of WAVs is below the % to be set by the DfT, then no application for a WAV taxi can be refused.

However the manor in question is 100% WAV.
