well Labour has now ditched "New" Labour without re-adopting "Old" Labour, the last time anything was that adrift it had "Mary Celeste" painted on the side

Wilson and Co were led by the nose by the unions, Maggie got in and it took an adoption of Tory ways to get "New Labour" voted in, Milliband clearly hasnt got a scoobydoo what to do, but at least all of the Blair/Brown cabinet ministers now have the gumption (a little late) to admit what they did in power was cobblers, but does "sorry" cut it?

I have read Economics, British Constitution and Law.

I remember those days. I have a very clear understanding of the macro economics of those days.

I had a local Student's Union president giving it all in the car today. At the end of the journey he said 'I haven't sold you, have I?' 'Nope,' says I, 'Seen it all before!!' Out of the car with his tail between his legs, his subsequent local TV performance was abysmal!!

Long many Scoobydoo Milliband reign as leader of Middle-aged Labour, because they're neither New nor Old now!!

And as long as 'Scoobydoo' is in charge, they haven't a prayer of getting elected!!

Thatcher was the best peace-time leader in living memory.

All she tried to do was to get the layabouts paying their way.

Unfortunately the country was f*cked decades before her time, never to be brought back to sanity!!

Until layabouts pay their way in life & society in this country, we will never recover, irrespective of which party is in power!!

This country needs conscription, capital punishment, chain-gangs, quadrupling of prison accommodation, but to name a few remedies!!!

I do not have a short memory.

I remember 3 day weeks, no electricity, rubbish uncollected, dead unburied, miners thinking they run the country, red robbo thinking likewise, IMF making similar tough conditions on us as they have just made on Ireland, docks at a standstill, the government dog being wagged by the union tail, PM: 'Crisis, What crisis?'

Then, along came a saviour: Interest rates had to rise to help bring inflation under control; unemployment was a direct result of appalling productivity due to the strikes; industry was not profitable due to the strikes. Unions finally made to toe the line and allow managers to get on and manage. A country encouraged to live within it's income, ie, if you haven't got it, don't spend it.

The country's finances, slowly and painfully came back into balance until, once again, Labour returned and started spending money like it was going out of fashion. Not too bad to begin with because we had reserves until Gordon Brown sold off our gold at a fraction of the price he could have achieved for it because he dumped it on the market. Decimated pensions that workers had spent years building up as a retirement fund. Public spending into orbit repeating the same mistakes of the 70s. Country close to bust once again.

I can give you a long, long list of the grave damage done to this country by Labour profligacy through the ages along with a long, long list of Margaret Thatcher's successes.

Use this as your guide: Who is the first PM since Churchill to be mooted for a state funeral? That suggests a person held in high regard by many.

Hear, hear!!

Very well written!!!

My father and I fought for years about this. He always said I couldn't afford to be a Thatcherite and I always laughed. My father was a union man to the core which showed with his employees in the factory. The one thing he couldn't stand were lazy people. The trouble we had getting staff even with good wages. My point to him was it's the union doing and the softly softly approach of previous governments that has made people lazy by giving them everything on a plate, if they only know how to fill the forms in correctly. We need a strong government to tackle all the problems, but, personally I believe that the majority of education should be free, money should never be the reason why people are not educated.

It is called democracy.

Sadly its less of a Democracy now that we are 80% ruled by a Federal Europe....it may have Politicians but it is almost completely run by Unelected beaurocrats...

That asides, i reckon its a Good Idea to make students pay for their own potential betterment, the Genuinely Intelligent and motivated will always find the means to pay for it...It may thin out the 10s of thousands of Mickey mouse students going for Mickey mouse degrees in Mickey Mouse Subjects...thus freeing up Vital University money for serious Students doing Nationally vital and important work and research.

Bang the Anarchist thugs up and give them a book to read inside...they can learn the hard way..im fecked if I want to waste my Tax payers money on them..
