hi highwayman sorry to hear of your troubles with licencing but it has affected the private hire trade to http://www.thisisyork.co.uk/york/news/YORK_NEWS_LOCAL5.html its bad enough getting court by licenencing but being grassed up by other drivers is a no no, i have been in the truck industry, not the most legal run industry in the UK, but you wouldnt even think about grassing a fellow driver who was bending the rules .
i think this new LO is gonna make a name for himself some time soon as there is talk of revising taxi numbers in york maybe the other drivers are trying to keep on the right side of him. by the way is it the rank outside salt and peppers you are on about?

The rank outside Salt and Peppers, outside the takeaway, never touch that rank, [Hey I don't carry food, remember] when it first opened [the rank] my first 3 jobs were trouble.

Yes this new LO is certainly using big sticks to beat eggs, you know what happened to the last LO a number of years ago, can't say his name but he also was ex copper, now led to believe he is laying curb stones for the council, he tried in a big way to alter this job and it backfired on him.

That incident above [the PH driver court case] was blown in by mobile phone to the LO by direct night time phone line by one of gang of 6 who shopped him, the hack followed the PH driver when he picked up off the street and must have got a statement from the people who got out the PH vehicle when the journey was finished

I told you in my other writings, we have Internal policemen, oh the main ones a WOMAN taxi driver  riding round in their taxis trying to put the world to right. Hey these gang of 6 spend time riding round, policing. These are the same people coming up to you and also saying "your car needs a wash" Who or what right have they.maybe cos they are the LO's friends. good friends at that, say no more.

This is not going to end here, me thinks that very shortly any PH sitting round waiting for jobs to come up in the area they sit will be moved on and sent back to base

A PH driver a friend of mine told me that the same person [from gang of 6] pulled over in their hack vehicle and said to him, why are you sitting here, he told the person [the hack] mind your own business I on a booked PH job, and that was a driver from the most respected PH company in the city

something is happening, but not quite sure what is going on, it is quite clear something is in the air.

Oh and while I am at it, just heard a story that a barrier maybe going up at the Station [GNER] rank, put a £1 coin in the slot and proceed onto the rank to get a job, if a certain Station taxi shareholder gets his way in April.

update
letter arived today, mostly to the LO advantage as I read, one paragraph reads...

"Rejecting a passenger who has food in closed container or wrapped would be unreasonable, thereby committing an offence under the sec 53 act, but if the circumstance were different and these containers were open and clearly the passengers were intending to eat them en-route, then this would be a diffent matter and rejecting a passenger in such circumstances would probaly be reasonable. Each circumstance would be judged on it's merits"

your thoughts

It has come to my knowledge that Darlington hacks carry stickers on there cabs, "No food or drink to be brought into this vehicle" which I am led to believe are issued by the licensing dept of that area and are accepted on taxi tests, anyone know any further on this.

I expect many councils have informal rules that allow such stickers.

Alas some councils just don't live in the same world as we do, thus they forbid such stickers.
