It appears all the councils that have submitted have the hump with licensed vehicles from elsewhere flooding their manor.

And how pleasing to see that one of the licensing associations, The Institute of Licensing, didn't read the bit about a maximum submission of six pages and sent nineteen.

I note that Milton Keynes submitted that a firm with 350 non-local Milton Keynes licenses PH are working Milton Keynes 24/7.

Interesting that Milton Keynes council, and the Milton Keynes licensed firm most effected, will be giving oral evidence, and one of the Tories on the committee is a MP for Milton Keynes.

Also methinks the Labour T&G and GMB sponsored MPs on the committee will be very sympathetic to those union submissions and oral evidence.

Very early days, but I think I can confidently predict the status-quo will not be what the committee's final report recommends.

Standardising private hire vehicle driver licensing across England and Wales would reduce costs to drivers, because they would not need licences from a number of councils; and reduce the administrative burden on councils.
