Actually, it's like that in some restricted areas, but the various family members are using the vehicle as an HC when it suits. That is, when they're not doing their 'proper' job.

And what would the difference when its deristricted be ?With more cabs out at all times trying to earn a living do you not think there would be less earning potential ? It really is a silly argument..

It would mean all the part-timers, pensioners and hobbyists would be able to have their own cab rather than driving someone else's, what else do you think I meant?

Indeed, I was just being sarcastic  but the point is that under restricted numbers you can have the part-timers owing cabs but the full-timers having to line their pockets.

That's why I'm not on the council, and the bozos that allow this are

The think about this is if your a part timer, believe me youd struggle to earn a living. The only ones that work part time are the ones that have money.Which before you start leaves some work for the rest of the drivers who have to work full time to earn a wage.

Precisely - the second jobbers, pensioners and those who just like to do a bit of taxiing because it gets them "oot o' the hoose".

But the full time drivers trying to earn a living from the trade can't get a plate because there's too many taxis.

Of course, they're welcome to pay a couple of hundred quid a week to rent one, or buy a plate at £40k.

Thing is most people who own a plate either work themselves full time or do days or nights and have a driver. The days of working part time are gone.It cost too much to run and pay council tests and bills. The ones you say second jobbers and part timers why should they get a plate ?Is that servicing the public just coming out at so called busy times. Those people get part time drives allready.I have a driver who works two nights a week and pays a mutual amount,he wouldnt want his own plate. If you really think these are arguments for deristriction you are sadly mistaken.

So you're slagging off the part-timers but then announce you've got one

Typical. And then you compain that there's too many taxis operating - the part-timers are fine as long as their in your car, eh?

I know personally a few part-timers who have plates in a restricted area - that they got for nothing - so you're wrong about that as well.

But since you won't even go outside Blackpool then you clearly won't know much about what goes on elsehwhere.

So that's why I find your remarks about my comments on New York amusing; you presumably don't even know what goes on in Preston

Mate you do talk some [edited by admin].whats the difference if they got their plates for nothing ? I employ a driver who works part time when he wants, you telling me hed want to run a cab and pay the bills, insurance ect to do 2 nights a week ? And the bit 'wont go out of blackpool'change the record mate you dont know anything about me.I dont go for discounted rates.Your last thing about not knowing what goes on in preston,im not that interested, but i know about the taxi trade. Our recently retired association leader was actually from there, quite a few owners and drivers here in blackpool are from preston, but like i say i dont really have to much of a interest.Maybe you should take a closer look at it rather than worrying about blackpool.

Mr Blackpool, a few hours later  wrote:

So one minute you're asking why the part-timers should have a plate, not long after you're defending them getting a free plate.

Met lots like you - part-timers are the salt of the earth, except when they're in their own vehicle, then they're greedy parasites. ](*,)
