hi all...
if your vehicle is off the road for mechanical problems, and you do not have your taxi plate fixed to vehicle, top sign, door stickers or meter in the vehicle is this an offence to warrant a suspension of license

topsign was put in the boot, door stickers are magnetic meter on a bracket, as the vehicle was not being used all took off to stop them getting nicked, reason plate was not fixed cos only had car couple days and probs with engine management so did not screw plate on, vehicle was spotted by licensing staff parked up outside cab garage and issued a suspension notice

Seeing as the vehicle was going out of your control... it would seem quite reasonable.... that removing all the relevance signs and equipment that make it a hackney was prudent, after all we wouldn't want anybody to have been using it as a hackney and placing the public at risk... would we .

Sounds like the kind of council who, if you were rear ended and the plate fell off, and the LO happened to be passing, would hit you with a suspension notice until the plate was reattached.

you agree to abide by the regs when you plate

the regs say while you are plated you will display the plate

vehicle was spotted by licensing staff parked up outside cab garage and issued a suspension notice

I seem to remember that a council has to give 14 days notice if they intend to suspend the vehicle. Is that what they issued ?

If my memory is fading (old age) there are many on here who will correct me.

Plates should be fixed OUTSIDE the vehicle specifically so a LO can remove them if needs be
