Illegal Stanton Hill taxi driver hit with fine

A PRIVATE Hire driver from Stanton Hill who illegally picked up passengers during a Mansfield District Council sting operation has been hit with fines and penalty points by Mansfield Magistrates.


Mark Pitchford (34) of Alexandra Terrace, pleaded guilty at Mansfield Magistrates Court on 9th to illegally plying for trade and driving without insurance on 22nd October last year.

Pitchford, illegally picked up two plain clothed Police Officers who approached his car on Leeming Street in the town centre.

He was fined £150 and given six penalty points for driving with no insurance and a further £150 for illegally plying for hire. He was also order to pay £115 in costs and a victim surcharge.

Councillor Mick Barton, Chairman of Licensing at Mansfield District Council said: “

“Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of the public and we will continue to take proactive enforcement action against the minority of drivers who put them at risk.”
