Morning chaps

Just got the rust bucket through another 6 monthly mot test!!

Will be needing a couple of repair panels (at the very least), what i need are the panels that sit inside the rear doors that have the hole and blind nut that hold the coutesy lights.

No one in Bristol has them and been given a number of a guy who is meant to manufacture them but he seemed reluctant to sell me any and then never returned my call !

Advice appreciated thanks.

Cheers did you have any success? I might get a couple of new panels for mine. If they're the right price it'd save the bother of a lot of welding and filling and sanding and spraying and sanding and spraying and sanding and spraying and buffing

Why not dispense with doing all the above every 6 months, and buy a metrocab and fit your engine into it
Alegidly it could be possible to do

I've only just got my TX1! It actually looks very tidy but there are a few rust spots in the usual problem places that I want to sort out before it gets serious.

I've heard Metrocabs are much better behaved where bodywork is concerned but to be honest I much, much prefer the look of Fairways and TXes

Hi Stewy

Repair panels are now available on good old fleabay, two suppliers, the more expensive one, (approx £25) is the better quality of the two, ( i have one of each)

Our local council run mot station has just discovered that the outer sills on the TX1 have great big holes under the plastic sill cover thats probably been there for years , but they've just thought to have a look under there !

Thats interesting to hear. I was amazed at the atrocious fit(obviously from new) of things like sills on my fairway and the schoolboy errors of building in massive mud and water traps on a design that has years to be improved.
maybe its a deliberate ploy, that after building a vehicle that lasts for many years mechanically (and if it weren't it would hardly be worth having as a taxi in the first place) inbuilt rust traps make it fall to bits around its still running engine.
No wonder we don't have a car industry anymore .

the tx1 is far better than the fairway when it comes to bodywork

at least the wings don't visibly flap around when your driving along and the doors are thicker then a cardboard box
and your face up against the windscreen while yer arse is almost in the passenger compartment

nope the tx is much better although the older ones are begining  to go now
