Taxi Driver Online

The down pipe from manifold to first joint on my fairway is getting thin and it vibrates badly.Are these still available new or is it a case of getting one from a scrapyard or trying to make one?.

Thanks for that,I'll have to try getting the nuts undone where it bolts to the manifold,I tried yesterday and had to stop because it seems as though they're going to shear off if I go too mad.

Sometimes done them when its hot with a long extension ratchet and plenty of effing !

I don't rate WD40 as a releasing fluid I prefer plusgas. I think i'll have to either see if I can get a bit of heat on them with the gas torch or,if they break as you say its time for nuts and bolts.
I do a lot of work on older cars and oddly nuts and bolts on fifty year old ones can often be removed easier than ones that have been on some modern tghings a couple of years.They use to use a lot of brass nuts years ago and usually things are easier to get to,newer cars are more complex and it seems less thought is given to accessing fittings when the whole thing is together.

i was just about to say no-one fits brass nuts on exhaust manifolds now, i think most folk take cars to kwikfit and they have the tackle to whip/zip and drill

If you have to go with nuts and bolts, use stainless steel ones. makes it so much easier the next time. A bit more expensive but worth it

once the studs have been replaced by bolts it doesnt matter, just twist and shear em and replace

I've ordered the pipe,good old VAT now at 20% I'm glad I'm doing my bit to finance this goverments cockups just I helped pay for the last ones.
I'll be underneath later spraying plusgas about for all I'm worth.
I'm debating wether to take the old taxi down to bare metal ready for a respray,I've got a horrible feeling I'll find plenty of pudding but there might be the odd bit of metal under the paint that I can weld to.

And I grudge paying a penny of it.I can remember when there wasn't any such thing as VAT and for all the millions paid since it was introduced I haven't seen any improvements worth shouting about.

the majority of the EU pays 20% or higher by way of vat, if you dont wanna pay it (or at least save money) shop around, or make 1 yourself, if you can cut and weld, it isnt rocket science
