Taxi drivers have been reported queuing up for a spot on the North Bridge. The word is, if you are going to jump you have to apply to the council for a licence. However, all is not lost as there will be no shortage of razor blades, rope or hose pipe. A council spokesperson was to report to have said “it's the bloody mess after they go through the glass roof and on to the tracks that cause the problem. Why can't they do it in the comfort of their own home? It's just typical of bloody taxi drivers, no consideration for anyone”.

The council has advised they are about to carry out a survey to see how many cabbies the North Bridge can hold but until then, you will have to buy a licence. If you apply now there is every likelihood your licence application will be turned down.

We asked for this to happen on a quiet night so as not to inconveience other guys trying to make a living.

Looks like they've heeded our request

Now all you have to do is get the price of a first licence reduced to the national average of £400

We have this in mind.

It is a disgrave that trade reps allowed this fee to rise to the extortion level it is at.

Of course these reps don't have the trade at heart, they just welcomed the inflated fee as a bar to entry.

Dearie me, we're celebrating a pay cut !

They'll dress it up as doom n gloom but its the ph who's fleet will increase.
City & CRT won't increase, com cabs may & ecph definitely will.
Nothing has stopped them from taking in hacks to their fleet before.
They've been striving to become credible since they took over.

Hopefully any self respecting brief holder won't drive for these new plate holders who don't hold a brief or already have a taxi.

The cretins may been gloating, but Garry can't drive n his lover can't get credit.
Any bets on who'll be financing the taxis...... Mr Malcolm I hear

I'd make sure if I was him, I had my name on their plates as security.

If & when they're issued, we'll have to take it on the chin & move on.
Hopefully the guys who bought in can survive whilst the blaggers fail

Travis

I've got to say, there is a certain satisfaction on feeling his pain.

What a Muppet

But hey!!!!

Thanks for strengthening my argument for a review/reform of the act that doesn't stand up in court

And whilst that Review/Reform goes ahead we may as well ask for a suspension of the multi abused allocation system

We have the evidence the CGSA section 12 doesn't work eh ALIT

I'm sure with an overall majority and the fact the SNP know the CGSA section 12 doesn't stand up in court the SNP surely wouldn't want to be seen in a bad light will grant all 3 :?:

REVIEW OF THE CGSA section 12

SUSPENSION OF THE WELL DOCUMENTED ALLOCATION SYSTEM

REFORM OF THE CIVIC GOVERNMENT ACT section 12

You are a [edited by admin] head case Dougie.

The council has already thrown in the towel. I know for a fact they are not going to appeal against the Sheriff's decision. It's game over. The council has lost in the most inglorious fashion.

If anyone is thinking about applying do it now. What is the council going to do, anyone who applied originally is entitled to a licence as much as anyone else and what about those who never had the opportunity? Remember, that was 27 licence application out of 99. It's time to fill your boots' boys. The council has lost and they have no more stomach for the fight.

200K, of tax payers money to get your arse kicked all over the court system. I don't think the council will be fighting any applications soon or for sometime in the future.

Enjoy Dougie, and just think, if the taxi trade had bought us off or paid us to fight for the trade you “businessmen” might have saved a fortune.

In a word, Control, the council thinks it controls the trade and for the most part, probably does. The trade “representatives” think they control the trade on behalf of the council and don't even come close. However, they do serve their own interests. They only control the idiots in the trade that believe they represent them. The problem lies somewhere between the two. They think they can control everybody and that couldn't be further from the truth. This is where we come in. We don't like being controlled by a bunch of numpties on the council or idiots running the trade. So far, so good, do you see where I'm going with this? Now more and more people want to challenge the council because they want to fill their pockets, or they believe a licence is there's by right. No matter how you want to look at it. The council is no longer as powerful as they once thought and are open to challenge through the internet and the courts.

Whatever the motivation self interest makes strange bedfellows, with enough will, to win at least a battle, if not a War. It just depends on how you look at it. :-|
