rented vehicle ?

i thought we were talking about DE-restriction

and being shackled to the debt that restricting brings in the plate value

Nah, I was referring to the debt incurred when you need to purchase your own vehicle, not so easy to walk away from that one

Toots, this is about a level playing field for all concerned. No one is given an advantage over the next guy. You pay your money and you take your chances. A fair fight one might say, and let the best man win.

It's a lot harder to survive while carrying a monkey on your back.

I agree, but, it's a lot harder to walk away from something when you're shackled to it

and thats why it should be opened up or people will always be shackeled to it.

only more so as prices increase

How can you be shackled to a rented vehicle :?

Like a slave shackled to a master, no less.

ROOTS, Toots.

ROOTS!

If owners are shackled, they put the manacles on themselves.

you mean like the couple of grand you need to fork out for a motor

compared to the grand a month you need to pay indefinitely if you have to rent from a current owner.

oh the hardship off it all

When the number of cars increase to three times as much as you have in Edinburgh now, you won't be able to earn a grand a month, and that's before any out lay then where will you all be?

in deep [edited by admin] if your still having to pay a grand a month in rental don't you think.

on the other hand if youve bought and paid for a motor the equivelent of 2 months rental.
and you dont have the burden of a 50k plate price then youll probably be ok

Are the vehicle standards not very high in Edinburgh then if you can buy one for a couple of grand?

I believe one of Ali's motors was a £500 Metrocab.

So how much in Dundee before and how much after??

Wasn't there 500 in Dundee before, so you're saying there are 1,500 now?

I thought there were actually around 600-odd, but if you won't tell us then I'm sure it's been posted on here sometime in the past few months. [-(

£900
it was minted though

age = quality apparently :oops:

never had a bit of bother with any of my so called buckets

through the tests with minimum fuss and money spent on them.

and never had much bother keeping them on the road year after year

you don't need to spend 30k odd on a motor

unless of course your renting it out multi shifted to guys that cant get their own licenses :D

Wonderful you have a £900 money maker, good for you. How many of them do you reckon there are around and for how long do you think they'll be £900 when everybody wants one  I've never been a fan of age limits myself to be honest, but, here on first licence they have to be under 3 years of age, this rule came to be upon derestriction.

The number in Dundee was 487 and has now risen in excess of 700 and there is an average of 10 going at every licensing meeting, but remember Edinburgh is a much more vibrant city than Dundee so stand back and watch your numbers rise if it stays open

Edinburgh more 'vibrant' than Dundee?

What does that mean, more pish-heids?

But if taxis in Edinburgh tripled on derestriction than I'd gladly eat my lid.

It would be very easy to survive in Edinburgh all you do is offer a discount, have your own phone number so punter can call you direct, so your cab becomes your office.
I do the above and I have to work against 128 other cabs
So something like this should help
