Hi,

Just looking for some advice, I filled in my CRB application on the 8th June and I've just checked the status of it online and it says they didn't recieve it until the 4th July. Is this standard, i.e. do the CRB date it when they get round to starting it or did they really only recieve it on the 4th July?
Just wanted to check with someone before I call the council and ask for an explanation as to why the form took 4 weeks to get sent...

Looks like someone at your council has not got there act together.
They should have sent it off the same day or the next, of receiving the application

This is what I thought :( So they've effectively delayed me starting work by 4 weeks. I suspect there's bugger all I can do re loss of earnings for that period.

Looks like they have messed up
They should have issued you your licence on the assumption everything will come back OK from the crb, thats what ours does, after a quick call to the police for a quick check, if its delayed for some reason

I would speak to the council and ask them nicely if it's normal for it to take this long, and then mention the CRB folks only said they only received it at that later date.

Telephone the CRB call centre.

Very helpful, I find.

Confirm reciept date with them, they should put a rocket up somebodies jacksie.

My recent application for an enhanced CRB check.

Form filled out for me be countersignatory Licencing Officer, because I am so stupid I cannot remember my own name. June 8th.

Received by CRB June 11th.

Stage One to stage four completed by 16th June.

I recieved a reply from the council saying it was sent on the 23rd June, 15 days after I filled it in at their premises.
Excuse was 1. It needs to be thoroughly vetted 2. Some officers were on annual leave 3. It was particularly busy and 4. This is not an abnormally long time

Well either its excuse 1,2, and 3,
OR it's number 4 surely?!?!?!?

Oh well, better to have my moan on here than get off on the wrong foot with the council before I've even started!

Sit on the information, which I presume is in writing.

Once you have been fully licensed, forward the information on to the chairperson of your Licensing Committee, with a note to make him aware of the situation in the licensing department and a comment to the effect that you are sure that the committee would endorse a more efficient licensing department than is evident by your evidence.

Struggle to see how it could be one, as that's what the CRB is all about.

Checked again today and thankfully the check has gone from stage 1 to 4 in the last few days, just the printing and posting now which I'll assume won't take longer than a few days :)
Happier now but I think I'll take brummie cabbies advice once I've got my badge in my hand and safely working. I've also been reading the boards with interest that councils could choose the standard disclosure if they wish to. Time to centralise the process methinks.

Apparently they get returned a lot if they're not checked properly for any errors, which would obviously delay everything... ahem...
