why do euro 7 bread van converters think that London cabbies will want their overpriced junk? almost (if not every ) black cab in London is an automatic, no bread van is. the turning circle is not just about U-turns, and have the people who think they are so wonderful every travelled in the back of one? no vision forward, and no good at all for sightseers. Accident repair, well, one Lincoln O.D. was off the road for six months after a fairly minor (damage wise, at least) accident. If you are a London cabbie thinking it is an option, test drive one and think again...

Is that as opposed to LTI's magnificent product?

The wider issue here is and has been the provinces, while an auto may be par for the course in London, this isnt the case in the places in the provinces that have adopted the PCO conditions of fitness.

Surely the issue is freedom of choice?

Freedom of choice, sure, but make the right choice. could you stand six months off thr road? another example. Brand new E7 Fuel problems, dealer ordered complete new fuel system from tank to pump. so far so good. ordered wrong bits though, and put cab off the road for a month. never had that myself with 15 years of metrocabs... No rust and no kicked in door panels.. so choice, of course, but the bread van is a bread van, and will never be a purpose built..

I'm quite sure for every E7 fault, there is a TX one to match.

I'm glad you have had good service from Metro-cab, but that isn't an option anymore.

Although some would have us believe they are about to re-enter the market again. :^o

Doesnt sound like the fault of the converter, the manufacturer would be to blame surely.

Metro cabs were plastic, now if plastic rusts....thn that would be a complaint

kicked in door panels.....nothing much either the converter or agent can do about yobo's im afraid.

Thats correct, but from my own experiences I had a Peugeot eurocab which did 330,000 miles in just over 3 years, it was still returning 35 - 40 mpg when we replaced it with another. The TX2 struggles to break 28 mpg, the saving in fuel alone is colossal.

Plus at the time the TX2 was £8k more money. 3 Flywheels, 3 clutches, fuel pumps, alternators, broke down after 128 miles the TX2 of a colleague with a snapped air con bracket.

LTI must think that the bread van type vehicle,is one for the future,as they are launching this type of vehicle.
Probably now wary of Cab Direct,s,E7 and Eurobus.???????????????

Paul I think you have been inadvertantly been misled

The LTI reasearch and development arm was bought out by a major shareholder and former chairman.

its him thats building vans not LTI

Yorkie,Patons in Scotland is handling this new vehicle, they are also main distributors for LTI,more precise the only one.
I think they are misleading the taxi trade,
with the trade up here thinking it is a vehicle built by LTI.

Then give us the choice and let us decide, a situation that does not currently exist.

If the E7 is that bad, no one will buy them, however since they outsold and 'outsexported' LTI then lets see what happens in London and Edinburgh.

As for the manual issue, I like many other london drivers hold a manual License, and in 2005 it won't be beyond the realms of possibility to install an auto option.

I have travelled in the rear of one, in fact the only one in Cowdenbeath! and the vision, i grant you could be better, but the ride was comfy and no less suitable than an LTI product.

As for Metrocab? the RAC's best customer . . . . and to top it off, just as the Toyota engine went in, they went under.

How many cab's have been produced since their resurection last December? Zilcho's Nilcho's.

Well don't say you weren't warned. I know of plenty E7 owners who are tied into finance deals so can't get rid... Inever said the altenatives were wonderful, at least they are as wonderful as ametro or aTX... if you catch my drift... spares and repairs, spares and repairs... downtime is no earn time... six years with ametro and i've only lost seven days off the road... my brother changed to an E7 and was off for SIX MONTHS!!! waiting for parts... ever heard of anyone off the road for that long in a black cab? you are right of course, when you say it's your choice. How is the Pug on the new smoke test in the smoke? i've no idea, would it need converting?

Why doesnt he contact cab direct and speak to Mr Parker? I understood cab direct had the biggest selection of peugeot parts in the UK, indded I was under the impression they could get part from france if non were in the UK.
