Now I know that green badge holders can work throughout London, and yellow badge holders just in the suburbs.

Why then can't yellow badge holders pick up at Heathrow which lies in a yellow badge district?

Confused from Sussex. :-k

If something is un-fair, then it's unfair.

So what you are saying is that the yellow boys aren't up to offering a taxi service in their own manor?

As for the experience issue, then why are they experienced enough to pick up at City Airport? :-k

Because, departing from Heathrow, 9 out of 10 times your destination is eastbound to a central London location, so a detailed knowledge of the area was deemed to be required.
Once you drop of you can start working again ensuring a good supply of taxi's is maintained up town.

The other reason being there would be no Yellow badges servicing the Ruislip / Uxbridge / Hillingdon area's of London as they would all be at the flyers.

The city airport however does allow Suburban drivers to operate the rank, but the turnover is miniscule in comparison to LH airport.

Not thinking of the knowledge by any chance sussex?

Now I am confused, do you mean they CAN drop off at LHR but not pick up or can they only pick up pre-booked fares or what the heck???

The thing is Jimbo, if someone is deemed to be a fit and proper person to drive a cab in an area, is it asking too much to let him pick up and ply within that area? :-k

Just liek me at Brighton station.
I can pick up anywhere in Brighton and Hove bar the station.
I would willingly pay for a permit. The money would be saved by getting rid of my radio.
But I cant. Its a closed shop, and the biggest mob behind it are the T&G.
