How do we stand with this one.
Our council have approved a fare increase.
They have sent letters out to all the drivers informing them of the increase.
They have advertised the increase in the local press.
Everything in order so far.
The increase in the paper is not the same as the increase sent to drivers.

Which was wrong, the ad or the letter?

The increase in the paper should mirror the one that councillors have agreed at a licensing meeting.

If it's not the one circulated then object, and councillors will then have to re-consider at a subsequent licensing meeting. What they agree then is the tariff, and needs no-more advertising.

So the ad doesn't mirror what councillors agreed?

If so then they will have to re-advertise.

They will have to re advertise and wait the statutory period before changing the meters. This will delay the increase.

They will also have to write to the owners again, informing them of the change of date.

And I have replied.

Is there anyway you can scan the advert and put it up on here?

Or send it to info@taxi-driver.co.uk and get Alex to put it up.

I would jhave thought if it is the Ad which is wrong then they simply have to readvertise with the correct proposed tarriff although a delay in the implementation would result

I will try and get a copy of the add tomorrow. The consultation ends on Jan 30 with implementation on Feb 6 if no objections. I have already sent in my objection so I will have to see what happens there. The committee are not due to meet until March. Strangly it is not dealt with by the licensing committee but the Rural, Economic and Environmental Affairs Committee.

Thank you Mr Grandad for sending a copy of your tariff.

A warning to members who click on this it will either come up small so you can't read it, or a massive copy that I haven't got the time to shrink tonight, but at least you will get a clear picture.

Looking at that little pic ( ) it appears the advert is legal.

However if that advert doesn't correspond to what councillors approved then it isn't legal.

But if it does correspond to what was agreed, then the trade can still object and delay the increase, which must be implemented by April the 6th.

Or it all goes back to the beginning again.

wheres the problem?

any rise for a hack is a meter rise and has to be done, let the LA sort it before meters are reset

The problem is that the council approved an increase of 28 pence per journey on tariff 1, 37 pence on tariff 2, 43 pence on tariff 3 and 56 pence on tariff 4. The advert states the rise is 28 pence on all 4 tariffs.
