If you as an individual buy a vehicle on finance, is it legal to let any licenced Tom D ick or Harry drive it
Yes you can get insurance cover for any driver named or otherwise,
But could the finance company repossess the vehicle if they new it was being rented out to a third party, sometimes for more than double what the original buyer pays to the finance company.

Personally if all finance company's stated that the vehicle could not be rented out there would be a mass reduction of cabs and PH on the roads

It depends on the small print IF the finance agreement states that sub renting of the vehicle is prohibitted then not but by the same token if the vehicle is being worked on a split purse or by an employed driver it is NOT being rented out and wouldn't infringe the terms and conditions.

Also most finance companies will not be bothered too much as long as the vehicle is fully insured and the payments arrive on time

renting it out would be "self drive hire" surely....
