. . . Shropshire Council's lead on issuing Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licences;

Click on;

http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/committee. ... endocument

Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on PDF Items 8 & 9.

PDF Item 6 is also of some interest.

This policy that should be adopted by all councils!!!

HERECY!

Your suggesting the unification of regs, and then we wont need individual committee's and LO's

Then VOSA can take over

The reason these chaps were refused were on the basis that they said they wouldn't be working that area.

Not that they didn't reside in that area, if that rule was law then there would be no black cab drivers in London.

The answer to cross border hiring is this, "if your not licensed in that area you can't work it." It's pretty simple really.

Do they stop you owning a chip shop, cafe, pub, night club, whatever, if you don't live in the local authority in which your business premises are?

I think you're thinking has deteriorated from its usual high standard after this afternoon's happenings at The Etihad Stadium!!

In terms of hackney carriage then maybe, in terms of PH then no.
