This is it in a nutshell:

Salmond knows he can't win just now, hence the delay.

He also knows he's unlikely to win in a few years time, hence he wants the devo-max option on the ballot paper as a fallback. And that's why Westminster doesn't want devo-max on the ballot paper - if it's a straight choice between a separate Scotland and the status quo then they reckon the status quo will win, whereas the Scots would probably vote for devo-max given the option.

But devo-max can't be done without Westminster agreement anyway, so Alex Salmond needs Westminster to agree to that, which I can't see them doing somehow [-(

well, we dont have a france section, or germany section, so why have a seperate section for a different country?

i've been trying my best to encourage africans and indians....alas no success.

The reason you can't encourage anything is because very quickly you expose how shallow you are.

You're obviously a leg end in your own mind.

Why don't you just grow up ffs.

Salmond and his numpty supplicants like Dougie have reached the Rubicon. RThey know that if they cross over it's sh*t or bust.

Scotland votes against separatism and why do we need an SNP? The vote could end up with the SNP voting itself out of existence.

And how good is that?

So, bring it on. Let's put this nonsense to bed once and for all.

BTW The old maxim still holds true. Any thing that stupido dougie supports is nonsense. he just keeps getting it wrong

Ipsos Mori poll this weekend; For independence, 29% Against, 54%.

I do love the way you use the terms "Alex" and "no brainer" in the same sentence.

I see Alex has now announced a rough date of Autumn 2014 for the yes/no vote.

Strange that he has waited so long to announce that date, and surely a coincidence it happened on the same day the UK Gov announced they would legislate for a yes/no vote ASAP. :-k

So will it be the Scottish Euro pegged to the Euro, the Scottish pound pegged to the Euro or the Scottish pound pegged to the English pound?

Whatever it is, unless someone can tell me different, it wont be controlled by the good people of Edinburgh. :-$

I don't think anyone in the UK believes that will ever happen.

If anything it's more likely to happen when, or if, the Scots vote for independence.

I wonder how many big businesses will be based in Scotland concentrating on a population of 5.2 million, rather than an English population of 51.4 million.
