Well I can't understand those photos and maps.

I mean the photo says "Seaview of English Sea from St Andrews", yet the photo is presumably taken facing north, so how on earth could it be a seaview of the English sea if the boundary is the line in red on the map?:

And even if you were looking out towards the boundary that must be pushing a hundred miles away from St Andrews, surely, so how on earth could you possibly see English waters - the horizon only stretches 11 miles or so #-o

And if you look at this other link, the map is obviously from the same people, but they've shifted the starting point of the boundary from Berwick-on-Tweed to North Berwick Image

The text doesn't make much sense either. Just looks like some kids playing with a crayon set :roll:

The pics are crap so who gives a feck?
Not much of a defence, Dusty.
I'll grant you the pictures are crap and a bit melodramatic.
That doesn't make it any the less of a land (sea) grab.

It's basically political hyperbole and fundamentally misleading, that's the problem with it.

Look at the proper map of the border and you can see how the picture and text above misrepresent the situation, particularly when they move the border from Berwick-on-Tweed to North Berwick :oops:

Given the way these things work it looks to make a lot more sense to have the boundary where it is rather than a horizontal line eastwards from Berwick, don't you think?

Image

Anyway, what's the precise relevance of the border shift? From what I can see it was just about clarifying the borders for the purposes of devolution - for the maritime agencies and the like - rather than any kind of land grab, whatever the flag-wavers may say. If and when Scotland gains independence then these borders and other matters (such as Scotland's share of the national debt) will be up for negotiation.

The kind of stuff on that website has as much relevanc to the debate than Alex Salmond yeterday comparing Scotland to Ireland a hundred years ago ](*,)

I prefer the Taiwanese take on what's happening :D

This one seems to be about that MSP going on about the Unionists being anti-Scottish, which Nicola Sturgeon was taken to task about on last week's Question Time.

(Never seen that particular film used in this way before :lol: )

Not a big surprise really - I used to read Tom Harris's blog when he was one of the top UK bloggers, and he often seemed a bit over the top for a mainstream politician.

Not really suitable material for the leadership of Scottish Labour, or at least unless you're a nationalist and are looking for a Scottish Michael Foot. Oh, no, that was the last Scottish Labour leader, wasn't it :oops:

Alistair Darling's comments yesterday were interesting.

Wasn't he Gordon Brown's Chancellor?

The living embodiment of fiscal competence and, no doubt, impartiality. :lol:

as the you tube post says;

I wonder how many people actually realise that:

a) This is a meme; silly, but essentially pithy fun.

b) Tom Harris is Scottish

c) Tom Harris is a Scottish MP

d) Tom Harris is a Labour MP, not a Tory one...

e) The earth orbits the sun.

shame on those outraged by it;
