Wear your id badge and take it to the department......if you think you should be paid extra for doing this type of work....go tell your boss who may well ask you if this really is the job for you.

Captain Cab !!! I don't know many people that do something 'work related' for a non financial reason. My boss in turn takes on a hospital contract not for charitable reasons but for financial gains !!! Paid extra for this type of work ???????? No....... just paid the amount due for the work done from start to finish ( ie metered from start to finish) !!!
FFS, having been on a circuit in Brighton that has had the Hospital contract for 38 of the 39yrs I have been on it, and delivered everything from Xrays to a fetus at one time to London, safe in the knowledge that I was ensured by my insurance company(Westminster) that I was covered to carry anything in connection with my business, if you are paid the metered rate from start to finish what is the problem? take whatever you have to wherever you are told to take it!
As others have said I realy think you should think about a change of career.
