Whatever the real reason for network rail trying to push cabs and other vehivles out of the station, it has nothing to do with terrorism, or even safety.

It has nothing to do with the interests of passengers, the disabled, or the effect on roads around the station.

So, why are they doing it?

Because they're only interested in commercial gain. Everyone else can go to hell just so they can make a buck.

We set the ball rolling by allowing them to charge for station pick ups all those years ago. It has clearly gone to their head - no longer a public transport service, far less an integrated public transport service, now just a bunch of desperados screwing a buck from every pocket they can dip their grubbies in.

We allowed the airport to rip us off, and rip customers off, by accepting their little grubbies dipping into our pocket.

Now we've got the Waverley management, knowing they can get away with it, arrogantly unilaterally imposing their latest scheme in complete disregard to station users.

Oh yes, they claim they've thought this through, except no alternatives have been put in place. They dish out their diktat and everyone is subjected to chaos. No regard for those with travel difficluties, no regard for road chaos, and no regard for cabbies, just trying to earn a living by providing a real service.

Question is, will the trade now stand up together for the first time and act to oppose these measures?

You answered your own question earlier in the post.

The trade is based upon selfishness.....permits etc are nothing more than a license to keep others out.
