He would have to get a licence as a private hire.... and we all know that you can't licence a vehicle that gives the impression that it's a Hackney.

To have a saloon hack here it must be white, but we can have "exec" plates which can be white and would, i assume, suffice for weddings AND as a PH (exec)......confused?.....i am....

And theres no age limit for "Execs" plates

Well if you wanted to plate a white TX then it would either have to be an HC or a PH, but it couldn't be a PH because it looks like an HC.

So it could either be a plated HC or only used for weddings. It couldn't be plated as a PH, exec PH or otherwise.

Well you wouldn't have to do rank work even if it was plated as an HC?

The bottom line is that you either use it only for weddings or plate it as an HC if you also want to do other pre-booked work.

You can't plate it as a PH, so if you want to do anything other than weddings it would have to have an HC plate. But you wouldn't have to use it for rank work.

Yes, I kind of got that impression, but in true TDO-style it's difficult to tell at times

Just out of interest, why do you think there is a market for using a car like this for weddings? It would be a bit of a niche market. Maybe one or two hires a year if you are lucky. If it were a good idea there would be loads of them about.

There are certainly a few such services around, but as you allude it's unlikely to be viable for a one-man band out in the sticks trying to earn a living from the trade.

Perhaps as a sideline for someone operating a well-kept HC, but not much more than that.

no, the TX idea was just a flash in my mind (magic mushrooms)

my preffered vehicle would be a roller of some sort (no, not fred dibnah's old one) or a large merc saloon maybe

If you want to have a side line you may be better off looking the other way. Weddings happen usually at weekends. The booking is usually for more than 1 car and the customer usually wants to book all the cars from the same source.
Now funerals are a different matter. They happen most days of the week and funeral directors usually book all the cars for each funeral. Get yourself a nice stretched Volvo or Merc in black and get in with the likes of the Co-op and Dignity.
