I sent an objection in this morning but the reply that I received was that the 28 days for objecting ended last Thursday. In previous years the council have sent a copy of the proposed increases to all drivers as well as publishing in the press. This year they have just published in the press. At no time were any drivers or proprietors consulted.

Is there any chance you can get a copy of the advert?

Firstly you should have your accounts, but secondly they should have theirs.

If they don't advertise the fees then they are not legally allowed to charge more than £25 for vehicle and operator's licenses.

I can't believe they don't keep a record of who has a license, in fact they have a legal duty to do so. Thus all they are doing is trying to drag this out in the hope that drivers get the hump and do nothing.

Your local trade needs to get organised and ensure you get every penny back, and I would suggest you get your local press on board.

Yep same as here apparently the 28 days is not from the date of the advert appearing but the date set when they decided to put the fees up me thinks your council and ours are part of the circle of licensing officers that all work together by holding regular conferences and seem to do exactly the same things
