Facebook reveals taxi driver's indecent actsA FORMER Ilfracombe taxi driver has been found guilty of abusing three girls after his victims shared their childhood experiences on Facebook.
The women had no idea they had suffered similar assaults until they exchanged messages on the website and realised they had to report the offences to the police.
Retired cabbie Roger Poulton, 52, is facing jail after a jury at Exeter Crown Court found him guilty of eleven offences which date back to the 1980s and 1990s when he lived in Ilfracombe.
Two of the victims were molested when they were aged around ten while being babysat by Poulton.
The third victim was 15 when she was groped by him.
Poulton, who now lives in Grenville Road in Warwick, denied 16 offences of indecent assault or gross indecency, but was found guilty and remanded in custody to await sentencing by Judge Graham Cottle.
He was found guilty of five indecent assaults and six offences of indecency with a child. He was cleared of a further five charges of indecent assault.
During the five-day trial the jury heard Poulton abused the younger girls when they were left alone with him at their home in Ilfracombe.
Neither complained at the time but in court they revealed how they were touched repeatedly while watching television or having baths.
The offences happened between 1986 and 1994 in Ilfracombe but the victims only went to the police after exchanging confidences on Facebook in 2010.
Poulton denied the abuse had ever taken place and said all three of the girls had invented the allegations against him.
Poulton is due to be sentenced in the coming days.
