Let's face it, very few WAV or purpose-built HC drivers/owners would run one if they could operate a saloon, whatever they might actually claim :---)

yep....but to be fair....i was about the last of the additional 120 plates issued to saloon vehicles, and i did point out that anyone who previously held a plate should be allowed to transfer to a saloon....due to finance agreements etc

But your actually telling me jack here.....what do you think? i was a chancer perhaps? that dont figure given my previous 20 years wav owning.....or perhaps i got in derek acorah to assist in a transfer from my dead father? i dont really know what your isue with me is....so perhaps you could enlighten me and the forum?

Yes, for the majority at least.

Things might not be so hard and fast as they were twenty years ago (when it was essentially a choice between either an LTI/Metrocab on one hand or a saloon/people carrier on the other), but go to any area where any plate can run a saloon and see what I mean.

And before Mr T mentions Sefton, I don't think that's at all typical.

Few reasons i think, there instantly recognisable , get quite a few 4,5,6 seater jobs, and there up to the job as they take some hammering.I dont suppose there a neccesity everywhere but here people have a choice and still choose them.

I tend to think, whether rightly or wrongly, the purpose built cab give the air of professionalism, it certainly does in respect of the driver, presumably because its a vehicle of work?
