Why do Hack Drivers, PH Drivers, and Chauffeurs work more hours for less money than any other workers?

Personally speaking of course!

They don't.

They attend work for more hours than any other worker, but actually work far less hours.

The rest of the time when they are not working is down time, waiting for the next job.

Presumably because the labour market values us as worth less than other workers.

That is correct, but it feels just as exhausting after 12 hours sat in a car.

And on an hourly rate it often does dip well below min wage as the OP says, same thing with a shopkeeper tbh, they don't spend all the open time actually doing anything other than waiting.

I beg to differ, the majority of time they are doing something useful and if the staff are not required, because it is a quiet time, then they are not sitting around doing nothing or at least not in the shop

I disagree.
If you are available for hire, you are working. You just don't get paid for it.

It's not as if you can go shopping or do your garden while you are waiting.

If the Original Trotsky had asked such ridiculous questions in such a smarty pants manner then its small wonder he ended up Wearing one of Stalins Ice Picks as a Cranial adornment.

I don't.

I work a rather short week for a good hourly return.

But I don't work for the London Minicab industry.

Now you be quiet young lady or I'll be forced to put you across my knee

What I meant was the shoppie also gets periods where he doesn't see a billy for hours on end and simply reverts to reading the paper to while away the time if he has no shelves to re-stock.
