Pendle cabbies to “shape” new taxi laws

PENDLE cab drivers and operators are being given the chance to air their views on new taxi laws.

A consultation is beginning as the Law Commission looks to make massive changes to current laws governing the trade which are more than 100 years old.

Taxi drivers and company operators will be able to present their views on how the new law should be shaped.

An informative session on the new consultation is being hosted by Nelson barrister and the local Liberal Democrat group at the ACE Centre on Wednesday (20th) at 6-30 p.m.

Pendle Council Executive member Coun. Nadeem Ahmed said: “This is the best opportunity that the trade will get for a very long time and people should take full advantage and help us to put their views across collectively.”

Afzal Anwar added: “It is important that people from the trade participate in the consultation as this will shape the way the trade is run for years to come.”

Hardly worth the effort...It's probably a case of those with full pockets speaking louder than those with empty pockets. :?
