I'm staying shtum!

I know various drivers from the UCG, some are lovely blokes, some seem to have the desire to be in constant confrontations with the authorities and / or other cab drivers, some are probably members for the legal protection side of it. Same with the RMT / LTDA / LCDC etc.

It's not a trade body that would interest me in taking out a membership, but then the RMT or the LTDA is'nt everyones cup of tea either.
You takes your choices. What I do know is that constant bickering at the top of any organisation does little to encourage people to join, whether its a taxi body or a sparkies union. News travels fast with the internet, texts and twitter.

I accepted a few years ago, that 25'000 taxi drivers, 25'000 opinionated taxi drivers, will just never see eye to eye over the issues that affect us during our working day.

Nowadays I go out, work, and come home, and hope that if theres a major threat to the trade, some form of alliance would take place.

As for the Olympics, my 3 weeks away starts tomorrow with sunny Wales.

I think it has served the purpose that I intended it to. I don't have a problem with rank and file UCG members, just the twisted sisters that run it... Hi GBC, Its not all confrontation with the UCG, the Free Shuttle Service for the War Veterans and family on Remembrance Sunday was organised 2 years ago with very short notice, and now with the help from Mike Hughes (taxitalk) this is now a regular event.
Drivers from various Org's combining to make this a success and a joy to take part in.

Would you like me to tell everyone the real reason Lee and Dizzy set up the veterans shuttle service ? It had nothing to do with respect, or patriotism

As I say, it's only 2 or 3 that seem to live their life's looking for trouble.

Perhaps the GMBPDB would be a better route for them, they seem to be run by jellyfish's?

The first Free Shuttle service came to be when the Underground system was closed on Remembrance Sunday and at short notice the UCG stepped in. The initial idea of the free Shuttle Service came from another UCG member and the UCG committee agreed to help out.

Interesting. But at the time the UCG/LTDF forum had no official committee and it very much controlled by Messrs Osborne and Crothers "Dizzy".

Bleeding from the mouth after the Nissen Hut exposed their terrible lack of judgement and involvement with the EDL, they clambered to distance themselves from their own postings on the LTDF forum. They needed a new vehicle to exonerate themselves.... They gave the LTDF forum an enema and cleared out all of the offending posts linking their support for the EDL and hoped this would be an end to anyone looking into the sinister side of the major players posting on the LTDF forum.

Unfortunately, the whole blog had been copied and downloaded for posterity. In other words, they would be forever plagued by the truth !

That's the Game Keepers Lodge let, for the time being...
