Taxi driver dies in Bognor Regis as car crashes into tree

22 July 2012

A taxi driver has died after his car left the road and crashed into a tree in West Sussex.

The incident outside the Martlets pub in Aldwick Road, Bognor Regis, happened at 14:30 BST on Saturday.

The 54-year-old man died at the scene, after his vehicle left the roundabout at West Meads Drive, Sussex Police said.

No other vehicle was involved and witnesses have been asked to contact police.

Not as strange as that cab suicide in London.....tow rope around the neck and a bollard....... and foot to the floor, head clean off.

As most of you aren't from that area and I'm not far away from it, it is an easy area to end up in a tree tbh, I don't know the exacts of this incident but the slightest hint of tiredness would be enough to be going along one second and in the ditch the next.

Looking at that it looks like he's left the road at about 50mph and not having the seat belt on threw him into the screen and probably snapped his neck, I did a similar thing when I was 19 in a dealer car I was moving so a customer could view it only I did a lampost, even with the belt on I still managed to give the screen a Boys from the Blackstuff greeting, so imagine that with no belt and a laminated screen, might as well have been chucked into a brick wall head first.
