Excuse me but I'm not the one that started this by saying people should live where they work. That aside perhaps if the Dft was so inclined to provide somewhere in the region of £5million to the taxis drivers so they could upgrade to cleaner taxis it may well help the situation

Agreed the DFT or TFL should assist in the drivers obtaining clean vehicles and thereby eradicate the police spewed out by these old vehicles!!

My point is you want to live in the area your polluting by working there well you have an argument by many wouldn't or subject their family to that pollution whilst inflicting it upon others hypocrisy??????????????

Your suggestions would leave London without it's required services tho don't you think? All kinds of things contribute to the pollution in London are you suggesting that all contributors live there or are you just opting that taxi drivers live there? What about the pilots of the planes or are they cleaner than taxis too? What about the delivery drivers, ph drivers, refuse collectors and all those people that drive into London for one reason or another. My point is you don't have to live there

Take the weather for instance with little or no wind many pollutants that where brought over from various other places will now be lingering over London, who are you going to blame for that?

Bloody hell your hard work London is a low emission zone cabs dirty ones are currently allowed to breach that agreement other than that you pay £250 a day polluting fine Ie Buses delivery vans etc. As you can imagine they all meet the requirements that the dirty cabs dont!!!

Aircraft are of course a problem but this is about ROAD users! isnt it ie the E7 and old crap heaps used by the couldnt care a less brigade to line their pockets at the expense of peoples health!

Of course what the old incontinent jellyfish forgets to mention is that Minicabs outnumber licensed Euro 3/4/5 compliant Taxis by 70'000 compared to our 21'000.

Minicabs have only had to conform to Euro 2 (Bit like their general skill base) and run around in quality heaps such as P reg Astras. (Nice) not having a clue where they are going. Their Sat navs are utterly useless with the thousands of road changes for the Olympics, and stories of their punters getting out and hailing Taxis are a plenty.

Apart from a few remaining Euro 3 cabs, the vast majority of the licensed London taxi fleet is Euro4 or 5 compliant.

As for living in London, as long as it's populated by cretins such as Flanagan, I'll continue to enjoy my rural retreat.
