Now that is mathematics at it's best. Do you also do statistics?

I said "at least", I do not rule out even more!

You mean like your zillion word response? :D

But, yes, let's address the issue in a couple of pages, you know, just like the in-depth analysis provided by our councillor friends in York.

And it's funny that after the LC's hundreds of pages some people on here still can't seem to comprehend that two singled taxis will take up the same amount of rank space as one doubled taxi. #-o

Either that or they're being wilfully dishonest :---)

Yeah I thought of a two word minimalist approach but thought better of it.

You seem to think if a taxi has a day driver and a taxi has a night driver, both drivers do the same shifts following deregulation. I wish that was the case, but it isnt.

I never mentioned York on this thread btw.

Oh I don't doubt that, but it's more a rearranging of the deck chairs rather than doubling the number of deckchairs as you tried to portray York.

No, that was me. But you can't expect stuff you said in another thread to be ignored if it's relevant to the discussion.

You know thats what I mean.......you dont seem to know what its like in a deregulated area and how shift patterns disappear.

I do, but, I think some think I'm talking outta my ass or I'm only interested in it's effects on myself. I think the biggest effect it has is the number of taxis that work private hire to make ends meet thus making them reliant on the private hire circuits because the rank work is insufficient. It also causes confusion to the public who now think we are all the same because we all work from the same offices.

What, you mean the barons with their double-shifted serfs don't exist anymore? :-({|=

So the drivers work when they want rather than forced to.

But like Toots you probably characterise this as drivers 'cherry picking' when they want to work, but that was after she'd told us how she likes the job because she can work when she wants and fit it round her other jobs.

As myself and others have said till we're blue in the face, I don't think there's a particular problem with supply in 'deregulated' HC and PH areas.

The drivers work when they want, which is generally when people need taxis.

Supply and demand, innit? :D

Good argument for a one-tier system though Toots. =D> =D> =D>

By the way, I had to take your over-sized full stop out of the quote because it was leaving a big gap between the lines and made it look like I'd cocked up.

Just in case you were wondering, like :D

I don't mind you taking it out I just wanted you to see it, I won't be making a habit of it. The problem with a one tier system is nobody can decide what vehicles should be involved in a one tier system or if all the different vehicles would create different tiers within the one tier system.

So you agree with the maths now then? If you want to agree, just say 'I agree' - and 186 multiplied by 2 equals whatever.

You can argue however you want, you dont come from a deregulated area - you come from a regulated one - you are therefore working in a controlled manipulated environment - others arent - yet you claim to know - which from your posts on this thread you obviously dont.

But I'm quite fair - so I'll go to work this afternoon - and take a few photo's of what its like in a deregulated are with few rank spaces and few passengers. Because from what you've written today - you dont appear to know what its like at all.
