Late yesterday news was breaking that the Metropolitan Police had issued a public order warning to the UCG/RMT cab section. This order is to stop today’s demonstration at Hyde Park Corner.

London Cab drivers were scheduled to demonstrate about the (ORN) Olympic Road Network that bans London Taxis access.
Cab drivers have been warned that any disruption of the Olympic Games could be punishable by two years in jail.

I warned the trade 18 months ago that government would introduce policies described as a necessity.
These extreme measures sanctioned by the government to curtail the activities of action groups demonstrating their right to be heard has got to be addressed.

This is the UK in 2012 and not **** Germany in the 1940’s.

Section 12 of the Anti-Terrorism Act was used today against London Taxi drivers. What next ? Internment orders, Gulags...
This is the contempt the government, TfL & Boris Johnson has for London Taxi drivers !

You need to get over it. The lanes are a requirement of the Olympic games being here. They have been implemented in law. You are not going to get this changed no matter how much you protest. Save your energy for a battle that you have a better chance of winning. All this is going to do is cost some drivers their badges and possibly their liberty.

I think the London cab trade would have had a better chance of success if they hadn't criticized Mr Griffin's request for equality.

Still at least Mr Griffin must have been cheered up by all this.

Private Hire in London were licensed in as a matter of creating greater security for the general public after vigorous campaigning by many women's groups. One of them was the Suzy Lamplugh Trust. Women were being raped and sexually assaulted at an alarming rate; the problem was out of control in London and still is. The main perpetrators of these crimes revolved around the unregulated mini-cab industry and still does !

Griffen was always going to manipulate the situation to further his own cause and he has deluded himself with his own rhetoric about level playing fields & fair competition. The licensing of mini-cabs in London was all about regulation, nothing else.
His drivers are not taxi drivers and his vehicles are not taxis. The 1998 Private Hire Act clearly lays out the regulations to be adhered to by operators and drivers. Unfortunately, these regulations are worthless and Private Hire in London is infested with touts that operate daily with total impunity from the authorities in London.

Your right LU PH is nothing but a corrupt scam its only purpose is too enrich the PH Proprietors 90% of whom are just con artists, the topographical Test is totally corrupted not surprising seeing that they test their own Drivers, the industry now is not about Transport its about ripping of Drivers and those guillable enough to believe the promises of the Companies at every renewal 37% of Drivers do NOT relicence.Obviously this shyte government couldnt give a friar tuck about the corruption in PH including of course bogus self employment nor of course could the other ex-etonian ponce Boris who is responsible for licencing, its nothing but a scam PH is being polarised within a few years only 2 or 3 big outfits will control PH.

You want to see touting go the Edgware Road where signs in Arabic in shops and on cars offer unlicensed mini-cabs totally unhindered by the Police MIND they can find time to threaten your side when they want to demonstrate about their right to use the Zil Lanes, I keep saying it
