Such as?

After all it's Quite prominently shown on the Front and Back of your vehicle for all to see anyway?

If your not happy with that then ask them to Issue your Plate number instead..

I dont see an issue with this at all. The information on your vehicle and number plate etc are all public information and anyone can get this from the council as they can see who registered the vehicle as a taxi/private hire vehicle. If anything its a very good idea and from what am learning a lot of companies have started sending out this information. Helps with Safety and pirates.

Can the opening poster elaborate what is his issue with this as I can't see any problems if it helps make sure your fares aren't pinched

well if you get a problem customer which can happen now and then especialy with some of the scroats in blackpool id rather he didnt have details on his phone that he could quite easily use to find out where i live i have small kids and wife dont need angry bell ends turning up.why cudnt they say just put the last 3 letters of my number plate.

im pretty sure that if you would of called up our office before this started and asked for a number plate of 1 of our cars you would of been told to do one.

But why would they randomly pick a number plate, If they've already seen you car or booked it they'll have seen your number plate anyway...

I would have thought this would be better. It should cut down on people approaching you asking if your their taxi/phv.

Our system only sends out the colour and model of car, which would be OK apart from the fact that probably 95% of the fleet are the same colour and model of car, so not much use. There is a link in the message that will take them to a map, on this screen it does have the car reg. Never had a customer mention that they have used that link.

They can already get your name (no address) from the council website if they have your badge number, or the name (no address) of the car owner from the registration plate or plate number or yellow sticker number.

The only difference now is that they actually have the registration plate, so don't have to remember anything if they wanted to check the licence register.

Your suggestion of only showing the last 3 digits of your registration still gives you the same problem as the council on-line register will just show a list of all partial matches. So you may get lucky and that there may be multiple cars shown, or there may just be yours.

When picking up a passenger who didnt know my car ive sent a description of the car and my reg number and it has certainly helped, i see no problem with whats being suggested, only the intended pickup would get a cars plate detail

if booked it should be on time, if they arent there no amount of texts make any difference, if theyve left a mobile number and are no-shows they can be banned from booking again.

so say "US LOT".... its no more than telling them what car is ready for them, you first objected on different grounds (being identified) but now you move the goalposts...

There's nothing wrong with that at all, it's safety for the passenger knowing they've got into the right motor.

Fair enough, but that will allow for the option for them to call another firm.

Then everyone's happy.

Still can't see a problem though. Its not as if folks can't note our plates at any time.

and handy at (say) an airport when the driver doesnt know who he/she is picking up - if it saves £10 in meter fees id say it was good thing
