I should point out that the BEF were knee-deep in the Channel in less than 3 weeks, even though they had allies, better equipment and weren't fighting the Soviets at the same time..
The Polish were outclassed by a much better equipped enemy, but their courage was never in doubt. They charged tanks with cavalry.
Their bold allies in Britain and France did bugger all to help them. Two weeks after the Nazis invaded, the Soviets completely undermined the Polish defence by invading from the East. (No declaration of war on Russia by Britain and France. It seems only the Nazis weren't allowed to invade Poland
)
Oh and the Poles never actually surrendered to either of them.
Many continued to fight for France and Britain after their homeland was overrun.
The top scoring ace and the top scoring Squadron during the Battle of Britain were Polish.
Monte Casino was finally taken by a Polish unit, after many other allied troops had failed.
Poles faught and died in many campaigns during the war wearing British khaki.
What reward did these guys get for their outstanding contribution to the final victory over the Nazis?
London meekly handed their country to the Russians without as much as a whimper.
When the victory parade was held in London in 1946, the Poles weren't even invited for fear of offending Stalin.
