Taxi Driver Online

I have been told that Aldershot are circumventing derestriction of vehicle licences by restricting the issue of driver's licences. I find this hard to believe and can't assimilate the legal process for this to occur.

Does anyone know anything about this or can any light be shed on this idea, please?

They cannot limit the number of driver licences.
They can make it harder to obtain one e.g. knowledge tests etc but cannot refuse to issue on the grounds there are too many already.

Further to this old thread, I have been advised that Aldershot have been challenged on a duty of care towards drivers, possibly in terms of not inhibiting their ability to work by virtue of issuing further drivers licences.

I'm struggling myself to see how this works and fear that our local association may be about to drop a bo££ock.

Does anyone have any inkling of what this may be about or where I can research a bit more?

bearing in mind what your association is like when they receive emails.....I wouldn't care to add

There are umpteen laws prohibiting restricting driver's licenses.

Up the entry criteria standards yes, blanket ban no.

I've sorted that, CC and the individual concerned is out of the loop!!! I apologise again for any embarrassment. However, what is it that Aldershot are pleading? Is there anything about this case in order that I can understand what they are on about?

I have found out that it was one of our local drivers who tried to get a badge about 10 years ago. He couldn't, for some reason, get one in Aldershot and so kept his local badge and commuted every day. I don't know where duty of care to other drivers income came from but I think some people have taken that as being current policy!!!

I was under the impression it may have been a court case or similar! Thanks for all your helps peeps and sorry about the lack of information I was able to give previously.
