If your plated vehicle gets hit and the 3rd party admit liability (and happen to be insured) the fastest conclusion will come not from using an "accident management company" nor contacting/claiming off your insurance, get the 3rd parties brokers details (or insurance company), ring them and point out your vehicle is your income and living, I can assure you that once the penny drops you will get fast tracked to a conclusion, the 3rd parties insurers want you off their "books" as you may claim loss of income too.

My previous saloon took a hit, within 7 days i had a cheque for the agreed value and 7 days later another cheque for all the associated costs (plating, meter fitting, signs, etc) plus when the assesor called i agreed a scrap value for my car (on my drive) and used it for parts to repair another car, and sold bits off it too.

If possible get your vehicle back onto your drive/property then YOU are in charge, if its taken by recovery to a storage yard you have no control over what happens.

This is sound advice. Most insurance co's will prefer to sort out any claim being made against them by another party i.e. you. Sadly Common Law is the enemy when it comes to the settlement value of your car. There is no requirement for the insurance co to pay you anything different than what you could realistically have expected to sell it for privately immediately before the crash. They don't have to pay you more just cos the council has age limits at first plating. But don't forget to include the cost of plate transfer and rewiring comms equipment or any special signs etc.

If the nipper has taken the car without consent you may have a problem or if its really the kid's car and grandad has fronted it for him. Fingers crossed for you.

Watch out for the sucker punches too, like your insurers deducting your excess (then you have to chase for it) and if you pay your insurance over 10 months they want the balance paid off out of any settlement on the car...

hope the car gets fixed soon know the feeling as just the other week someone hut me at a roundabout she didn't stop either so chased her into car park and asked her why she didn't stop said the usual "i din't hit your car what you talking about" and showed her the scrape on the offside wing she just made, luckily i had a passenger in the car and she said she would be my witness then she went on saying that i hut her! anyways we exchanged insurance details and now waiting for word back from my insurance, the joys ](*,)

you may find your witness is not accepted at "independent" having been in your car at the time of the accident

no problem with witness(the wife) not being classed as independent as it happened right outside my house. no one in the car at the time thankfully

police never arrested the scrote so I assume his insurance details he's given all check out ok although its obviously a case of fronting. he pays 1200 a year as a named driver on his "granddads" policy

but i'm getting screwed royally I know that before it even starts between not getting anywhere approaching what my true earnings will be at this time of year to what really will stick in my throat getting nowhere near enough to put me in a vehicle that I can use for work. realistically I would need a settlement in excess of 4 grand to buy a Vectra elite under 5 years of age in any condition approaching usable. wheras mine is probably worth half that on a good day.

or offer yourself as driver amongst the local PH bases till your sorted.

It's my understanding it's a Glasgow plated vehicle and the only one they have. Do you not read anything properly ffs

You can't expect any sympathy about the wife you married her

only one what? car? not very confidence inspiring

my mate got a brum plated PH (E7 with TAXI on the vehicle and rooflight with sticky tape) quite quick

other accident management firms are available
