Do you think Gusmac, believes that Salmon or MacAskill would do things differently, supposing they were in power?

I think Gusmac thinks that it doesn't matter and his view will be that it doesn't matter because at least it will be Scots making the decision.

Sadly the track record suggests the SNP are just as bad as their English counterparts (albeit on a massively smaller scale), take the u turn on bus nationalisation after a donation, the lies in respect of the EU letter and suchlike.

Gus believes that Scottish politics will swing back to the left after Independence, where it should have been all along.
That will never happen as part of the UK.

In that context, you are correct. Buses and letters are unimportant.

Salmond, if he achieves independence, will no doubt crown the achievement by retiring fairly soon afterwards.
The SNP will fracture down ideologic lines - left and right - in or out of EU, NATO - Republicans and Monarchists etc. It is in fact a very divided movement with one common cause.
It will not survive Independence intact.

That I do agree on, the differences were obvious at their party conference.
