Loads of things which belonged to all of us were sold off at knock down prices.

sold off maybe but at the time it allowed millions to become shareholders in businesses and sometimes in their own companies, something unheard of before Thatchers days.......and as with the "right to buy" many who took up the option were staunch Labour supporters getting a foot in the door
and some of the "national" industries were originally created with private money.....like the railways and pits
How many would have bought, if it wasn't actually a give away?
Regardless, those who weren't in a position to buy or chose not to, got stiffed by those who could and did.
Now we are all getting stiffed to make profits for those who now own them.
