I don't recall them building very many one bedroom social housing though.

There are loads of 1 bedroom bungalows and flats around here that are council owned or housing association owned. My father lives in one of them.

In my area, with a really bad housing problem, there are dozens.

And the higher rate of tax will be higher under the Tories/Lib Dems than at any time under the New Labour.

"With a really bad housing problem" what a surprise after flogging loads off and NOT being allowed to invest the receipts on new housing

Like they did with thatcher's anti-union laws?

And even if they do, how much damage will have been done by then?[/quote]

Gus you wont be surprised that I attempted to get Organised strikes by the TUC against the Blairite scum government ON THE ANTI UNION LAWS only to be scupperd by the likes of Cabby john and his acolytes

No doubt plenty of damage will have been done by the next election which is why I advocate a GENERAL STRIKE NOW =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Former Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher will have a statue erected in her honour in her home town of Grantham in Lincolnshire.

A plan to raise more than £200,000 for a statue and renovation project at the Grantham Museum has been unveiled.

Labour councillors had called for a town centre statue after the Conservative-majority authority voted against the move last week.

Feckin madness from the lovable tories, its a bit like the window tax.Thatchers doing from selling council houses off and making slumlords, would it not be better to invest in building more homes.

They are BUT housing association not council owned every new housing estate has to have a proportion of houses earmarked for the local housing association.

personally I doubt this will have much of an impact at all because most social housing is fully occupied by families or certainly round here it is apart from a few pensioners clinging to their council houses they have lived in all their lives the way the housing lists work if you are not going to fill every room you won't get a house
