So if it runs in the background, how do I know when there's a job available? It seems to log itself out for no apparent reason also. Many times I've brought up the screen to see if there's anything available and I've been logged off without my knowledge and have to log back in, it's a pain in the neck. ](*,)

If notifications are enabled on the app it should give a message with alert sound.
I have also been logged out for no reason, I just keep an eye on it every now and then. more so for pre-bookings as there is no sound for those, reason given by cab app

Quote CabApp "There is no visible or audio alert for pre-books as they could be for any point in the future and are shown to all drivers, so we felt it was not necessary due to the lack of urgency.

In the last phase we combined the Available Jobs and Pre-books on one screen with the number of jobs in brackets so that drivers can see both together whenever they look and the number of jobs indicates if there has been a change since the driver last looked.

When the app is eventually busy with lots of jobs then drivers will be looking at the Jobs screen much more frequently so will automatically see the number of pre-bookings, so I don't think this will be a problem.

We feel there is a fine line between giving too many pop ups or audio alerts as this will be annoying for drivers."

The App has a few small glitches as it is new, I am sure when all the bugs are seen they will be resolved with an up-date fix at some point.
Personaly, glitches appart, the app is working well for me in all aspects.

as for ph they get vetted the same as taxi drivers(at least they are meant to)
so who really cares about that, apart from the guys on here who are clearly trying to punt the software.
the sales pitch by certain members is blatantly transparent,(buoy up the qualified driver to make him think he is elitist to get him to install it)truth be told you'd be better selling this to ph theres more of them and its far cheaper option for them.
taxi trade has to many dinosaurs in it for it to take off,but you never know and i wish you luck.

You are spot on these things are the future. For the Taxi trade. Don't know about PH apps are too clever to allow PH unlawful practices to continue.

Of course the 'sales pitch' is blatantly transparent, drivers spreading the word about something new and useful. The owner is a driver, and apart from a couple of his mates everyone else involved is a driver. That's why it's so cheap to use.
Only there is nothing to sell, no software, no machines, no obligations. Nothing. Use your own phone and use it as you wish.

Had cab app now for 2 months and still waiting for my first job, don't even bother logging in now. I'm in Glasgow btw.

Lots of Glasgow drivers just using it for credit card jobs, so you have that if nothing else.

No public launch yet but quite a few Glasgow jobs due to people moving about the country who have used it elsewhere.
But most Glasgow jobs don't get taken? Even city centre mid afternoon.
Not enough drivers yet? Not enough phones switched on?

Would ask other users regarding your phone settings if you don't see the jobs or contact cabapp support.

In time it will probably all be run of the mill

Up and running in Aberdeen and had a few job already but once more drivers are onboard this will take off. Customers love it too so no brainer to me.

where your takings up today ??

lets us know at the end of the week if your up or down or just the same

Look at this way.
I started using the app a few months ago, my takings are relitively the same as I go home when I reach my target but my milage is down as I do not always have to go back to a rank to sit and wait for my next hire. When I'm out of the city centre dropping off a job may come through, usualy not far from where I'm dropping and sometimes the job takes me back to the town. I grab the job quick if it suits me (fastest finger wins on the app btw).

The app helps a little to keep dead mileage down and gets me to my target takings quicker meaning a shorter shift, okay 10-15 minutes and a few miles here and there but it all adds up.

=D> :D =D> :D Well done, Cabapp cherry pop.
If you go to the support button on the app you can request receipt books, stickers for the cab and cards for punters, all sent free to your home.
The more you advertise the more people use it.

Edinburgh's App market is sewn up and with the back up of 1000 drivers willing to service the bookings other App companies need not apply

You are too sharp. =D>

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Every time a driver pulls off the rank to take on a cabapp job it has cost him * 50p. £1 if its any sort of distance job.

It's a fair cop Guv. Pun intended!

*after using all his free credits, minimum 5 plus any provided for test purposes.

Okay it cost's drivers 50p or £1 but you can add the booking fee to the meter just the same as customers phoning and booking a cab from an office.
£1.00 added minus 50p means you are up 50p.

To be fair that's not a practice allowed throughout the uk.

Some of us just have bear the brunt of the 50p overhead and hope for generous passenger tip.
Thanking ee kindly sir"

You want or expect 160 jobs per week from a radio company, thats 23 jobs per 7 days or 2.3 jobs per hour in a 10 hour day every day of the week and only pay £80 per week for this, something wrong here or you are dilluded, are you really a cabbie or a broker who likes playing with numbers

Think he's making the point that for £80, you'd have had 160 jobs off this app, because it's 50p per job. Also, if you get zero jobs, you pay zilch.

If you have a radio, what does the cost per job average out to?

Paying to be part of a circuit Gusmac is about Quality as much as its about Quantity!!!

Lets say 1 week i get 100 radio jobs averaging £10 a job, thats £1000 pound turnover for an outlay of £80, sorry but this is realistic, his figure is so unrealistic it makes me wonder if he is a real cabby, i maybe wrong though

 What are you smoking Dougie.

Perhaps Frank should ask his boys to run their sniffers over Chez Smith.

That continual blue light leaking out from the closed, heavily curtained windows of your bedroom? Couldn't be ...?

Frank! Are you getting this?
