Some bright spark at Scotrail or Railtrack, I can’t remember which, came up with the idea of operating a restrictive practice at both the Waverley and Haymarket stations.
The plan was to restrict passenger access to taxi services while charging a permit fee to a limited number of taxis to pick up, essentially turning the passenger into a commodity to be sold on to the highest bidder.
City Cab broke ranks with the rest of the trade in refusing to pay to provide a service and signed a contract with one of the above, a situation not altogether dissimilar to that of the airport. Only this time it looks like it was CRT, who wanted to tender alone and lost out.
You reap what you sow.......

Yes I agree close enough. So 30 years on and CRT are still using this as their ammunition aimed at discrediting City Cabs. I'm sure that any taxi driver can apply for a permit at the waverly? Central, get over it!
The trade will continue to survive through very difficult times. Mr Jasbar commented that both companies have ruined the Trade! I believe there is an individual who believes that deregulation is best for the taxi trade, we all know that this would be detrimental to the trade. Your opinions on that imbecile Mr Jasbar?
Mr Skull you are obviously well read. You are correct to assume that Central chose to break away and have fallen flat on their face. They will reap what they chose to sow.
As for the £149 discount subs and the Airport Tender being City Cabs fault, still no proof from Central and no one denouncing they are paying £149.
As Mr IRS states, the silence is an admission of guilt!
Fantastic facts Mr Boab! One may question where you get your knowledge! Impressive all the same.
I find you very intriguing Fat Boab, but unlike the others I see through the pseudonym.
Facts if you please Mr Boab.
