So if it runs in the background, how do I know when there's a job available? It seems to log itself out for no apparent reason also. Many times I've brought up the screen to see if there's anything available and I've been logged off without my knowledge and have to log back in, it's a pain in the neck.

If notifications are enabled on the app it should give a message with alert sound.
I have also been logged out for no reason, I just keep an eye on it every now and then. more so for pre-bookings as there is no sound for those, reason given by cab app

The App has a few small glitches as it is new, I am sure when all the bugs are seen they will be resolved with an up-date fix at some point.
Personaly, glitches appart, the app is working well for me in all aspects.

You are spot on these things are the future. For the Taxi trade. Don't know about PH apps are too clever to allow PH unlawful practices to continue.

Of course the 'sales pitch' is blatantly transparent, drivers spreading the word about something new and useful. The owner is a driver, and apart from a couple of his mates everyone else involved is a driver. That's why it's so cheap to use.
Only there is nothing to sell, no software, no machines, no obligations. Nothing. Use your own phone and use it as you wish.

Lots of Glasgow drivers just using it for credit card jobs, so you have that if nothing else.

No public launch yet but quite a few Glasgow jobs due to people moving about the country who have used it elsewhere.
But most Glasgow jobs don't get taken? Even city centre mid afternoon.
Not enough drivers yet? Not enough phones switched on?

Would ask other users regarding your phone settings if you don't see the jobs or contact cabapp support.

In time it will probably all be run of the mill

Look at this way.
I started using the app a few months ago, my takings are relitively the same as I go home when I reach my target but my milage is down as I do not always have to go back to a rank to sit and wait for my next hire. When I'm out of the city centre dropping off a job may come through, usualy not far from where I'm dropping and sometimes the job takes me back to the town. I grab the job quick if it suits me (fastest finger wins on the app btw).

The app helps a little to keep dead mileage down and gets me to my target takings quicker meaning a shorter shift, okay 10-15 minutes and a few miles here and there but it all adds up.

Got my first job from cab:app last night First time I've had a chance to use the app properly, all worked fine. Was a crowd of students, they love it.
Hopefully get more from it in future.

If you go to the support button on the app you can request receipt books, stickers for the cab and cards for punters, all sent free to your home.
The more you advertise the more people use it.

Edinburgh's App market is sewn up and with the back up of 1000 drivers willing to service the bookings other App companies need not apply

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Every time a driver pulls off the rank to take on a cabapp job it has cost him * 50p. £1 if its any sort of distance job.

It's a fair cop Guv. Pun intended!



*after using all his free credits, minimum 5 plus any provided for test purposes.

Okay it cost's drivers 50p or £1 but you can add the booking fee to the meter just the same as customers phoning and booking a cab from an office.
£1.00 added minus 50p means you are up 50p.

To be fair that's not a practice allowed throughout the uk.

Some of us just have bear the brunt of the 50p overhead and hope for generous passenger tip.

I got a £1.50 tip so that more than covers any charge...anyway I was still on the free 10 credits I got when I signed up Still got 9 left
