if the plate expires on a saloon hack is the owner required to remove the rooflight and door signs?

Think it's Section 64 of Road Traffic Act 1980.

Without reading it I think the roof light must come off. Don't think the door signs are mentioned.

If it's not a taxi then it shouldn't give the appearance of being a taxi.

i'd imagine as long as he doesn't display a council plate he's fine its just another vehicle. plenty of ex hacks in private use.
