How does it work? "Favourite cars", if they give a job to the "favourite" that should have gone to the first car available, then a far better one comes in what happens? do they buffer jobs and pick the highest value job for the "favourite" car?...

Don't know. heard they do it by randomness but not too sure about it anyways, i have been offered it every year but declined the offer the past three but taking it on this year, do't know how they choose, there is 300+ cars on the system

sounds a flawed system and idea, maybe a play to get cars out when needed most (i.e. when most wont bother working), we used to get begged to do sunday day shifts when there was no-one about....then we got bullied "work sundays or you cant work friday nights"

i have worked for 2 of the three main taxi companies in north lany south area, redline cabs and united taxis, united cover, wishaw, craigneuk, newmains, coltness, dryburgh, camby, netherton, greenhead, overtown, gowthrapple and bellshill, they are the biggest and get the most work out of the three, redline, do all of motherwell, and the 3rd is club taxis, but they do carfin, hollytown, newerthill and are the smallest. its like gangs who have territory when ever i go to motherwell you get dirty stares off the redline drivers for going onto there turf, united taxis bought the 4th taxi company "maxis taxis" and they coverd bellshill, so now we are both on the same system, but all the taxi company's in my books are rouges

I was thinking the same to, everyone pays the same so why should there be priority cars on a system where there's 300 motors??

If I were on that firm I'd be kicking a stink up and be wanting a reduction in the money I pay in.

just went out and looked at how many cars are on tonight and all of a sudden the contolers voice came on, (not meant to come through when the datahead is on unless they are looking for you) and said (this message went to all units) "Driver in need of urgent assistance on Hooper place " about a 6 mile drive from where i was, he put a "999s" in which shuts the system down and no one can get a hire till the prob was rectified, hope he is okay and its up and running in 30 minutes

Very poor friday night, however excellent saturday and sunday nights, easily the best 2 shifts I've had in 2013.

Haven't bothered with tonight (monday) night, even though it's a bank holiday there will be a load of cars on and not much work.

As for this priority cars system, our firm does this but only on sun-thursday nights from midnight to 5am. On mon-wed, and sometimes thurs, there is only a need to have 1 driver and even he can have hours where all he does is sleep in his car, such is the lack of jobs in the small hours on weeknights.
